| …This
is an effort by MAYA to document and reflect upon its community-based
approach to early childhood care and education (ECCE) through a
process that also seeks to share experiences, learnings and challenges
with others addressing similar concerns . It
primarily attempts to describe the processes over the last 14
years that have built an understanding leading to the approach
in discussion. The model does not prescribe a model for replication.
It rather seeks to draw out certain underlying principles when
working with communities, that may find applicability in different
situations, when appropriately contextualised.
This document was prepared by the team of MAYA
facilitators working on early childhood care and education with
additional inputs from Dr. Jennifer Jalal (presently with the
Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi) . The strength of this report
draws from the communities MAYA works with- their experiences,
understanding, perceptions and belief.
In this context, MAYA would also like to acknowledge
Royal Norwegian Embassy for its support. |
